Future Fibre Technologies Protects Terranova Solar Farm

Global Technology of Choice & Local Expertise Secure Perimeter Distance of Over 5Km

Future Fibre Technologies (FFT), the world leader in fibre optic intrusion detection, and FFT’s partner for the Benelux region Mulder-Hardenberg, have recently been awarded the project for securing the perimeter of the Terranova solar farm.  This is the largest solar power generation facility in the Benelux region of Europe and is located near the Belgium/Netherlands border.  The project covers the two main sections of the solar farm where the 55,500 solar panels are sited with a total perimeter distance in excess of 5km.

This latest win builds on FFT’s impressive record of success and global experience in delivering perimeter intrusion detection systems that protect solar power generation facilities around the world against theft and vandalism.

The client recognised the advantages of the FFT fibre optic security solutions, and FFT's global experience when making their decision. Noël D’hondt, Project Manager of Terranova SolarTerranova-Sola-Farm-in-Benelux-Region-Europe.1-300x200 from Aertssen, the main partner on the Terranova Solar project said “We chose Mulder-Hardenberg and FFT Secure Fence™ because when you look at the total security picture, their pre-sales support combined with the cost effectiveness of the Secure Fence system delivered an architecture that allows us to have a quality intruder detection solution that  can be monitored remotely as well as on site.  Also the fact we could have all of the control equipment in one central location and indoors was very important to us.  Being fibre optic of course also gives us the confidence that lightning will not cause us any problems which is very important as the site is quite  exposed and will be vulnerable to storms.”

Mulder-Hardenberg Account Manager, Véronique Vanloon said, “FFT offer a complete family of fibre optic intrusion products, delivering end-to-end  solutions products. Their PIDS products range of features puts them at the top in terms of both functionality and performance.  Our own FFT demonstration system was a crucial part of us winning this project by allowing us to show the customer all the features of the system in a working environment so they could see exactly what they would be getting.”

FFT’s Regional Director for Europe, Middle East and North Africa, Adam Wilding‐Webb, said, “This is a great project to be part of and shows how FFT’s products can be used in a range of projects ranging from simple two zone systems of a few hundred metres all the way through to the long range systems that FFT are traditionally associated with.”

“The benefits of deploying FFT Secure Fence™ include its cost effectiveness, its flexibility and the fact that the installation process is very simple and does not require any power in the field - just the sensor cable mounted on the fence itself - plus the local technical support capability through FFT’s partner Mulder-Hardenberg’s nearby office”.

“The Secure Fence system is perfect for this type of project. It is easy to install, and pinpoints the precise location of perimeter intrusions which is very important for directing the customers security team should an incident occur.Mulder Hardenberg has also shown how proficient they are with our products and the support structure they have in place will ensure this project will be a great success.” he added.

FFT manufactures highly reliable and advanced intrusion detection solutions, for various industries ranging from: Power generation Plants, Seaports, Airports, Government, Military, Defence, Oil and Gas, Utilities as well as a broad range of commercial organizations.

FFT’s technology is supported by a global network of expert technical support engineers and accredited partners located around the world, delivering technical support services in more than 55 countries. FFT global network also include regional sales and support offices in Australia, Europe, the Middle East and North Africa, Americas and the Caribbean, and in India.
