Future Fibre Technologies Limited (FFT) (ASX: FFT), a global leader in fibre optic perimeter intrusion detection systems, has secured a pipeline protection contract located in India valued at over A$360K.
FFT Aura will be used to protect an initial 82km section of critical pipeline and help prevent petroleum theft from illegal tapping. The same company owns and operates over 3,000km of pipelines across India – sections of which are actively under tender for new fibre optic intrusion protection systems.
Utilising the existing buried fibre optic data cable deployed for pipeline control and communication, FFT Aura will turn the data cable into an advanced warning security monitoring system to detect illegal tapping attempts and unauthorised digging activity along the monitored section of the pipeline.
Commenting on the announcement, FFT Chief Executive Rob Broomfield said, “With reports of petroleum theft through illegal pipeline tapping, India is adopting fibre optic security solutions to prevent valuable product loss. This contract not only establishes FFT’s pipeline security solution in an emerging and fast-growing market, but provides a real opportunity for the further roll-out of our Aura Platform across additional sections of the customers extensive pipeline network.”
